Nazca geoglyphs newly discoveries

The Nazca desert in Peru is like an art gallery for the gods above. Yet even with decades of surveyance from the skies, it appears to have barely explored a small wing of this fading collection of giants among the stones. Japanese archaeologists studying the desert around Nazca, Peru, identified 168 new geoglyphs, according to the news release from Yamagata University, Japan. The surveys and aerial images have now identified 168 new geoglyphs in the recognized World Heritage Site, dating back 2000 years, with roughly 50 large-scale geographical drawings depicting human-like figures.

Among the many figures, a geoglyph appears with a more abstract shape with five long lines extending from a wide-eyed, open-mouthed face.

A pair of geoglyphs show a human figure holding a large stick as an abstract swirl – that almost appears to frown – looms nearby.
